Dear Homechefs, if you are lazy to cook for this CNY or too busy to cook, why not head down to Blue Lotus? Cultlinary was invited for a media preview of their CNY menu and it was impressive!
Blue Lotus has created its own unique and healthy version of the Yu Sheng, filled with up to 20 fresh ingredients and aptly named 十全十美(Shi Quan Shi Mei), which literally translates to “completely perfect”.
Comprising of 10 herbs and vegetables, two aromatic spices, three types of nuts, Tea-smoked salmon, salmon skin and silver bait, and finally, dressed in spring-onion-infused olive oil and wild honey yuzu dressing, the 十全十美 “Perfect” Yu Sheng will be available for dine-in and takeaway ($68 ++ for small and $88 ++ for large).
Their Yu Sheng is not too sweet like the usual ones you have (thanks to the wild honey yuzu!) I love how they served it on a wok with “smoke” from the dry ice. Very creative and reminded us of Cultlinary’s slogan “Never Wok Alone”. No one should lou hei alone too!
Blue Lotus dished out their Steamed King Oysters like how you would eat oyster raw. With salt crystals pretending to be crushed ice, do note that this is not served cold! The vermicelli together with garlic and Chinese parsley gave it an oriental taste. I guess instead of 年年有余, I would wish for 年年有King Oysters!
How can you be in Blue Lotus without having its Signature Chilli Pomelo Stuffed Crab Claw. Say goodbye to messy chilli crab situation. With crabmeat all “pasted” onto the crab claw, it’s like eating from a chicken drumstick. No tools required. The Chilli crab sauce is spicy to a shiokness level that you will slurp it nonstop. Do save some of it for your fried and steam buns. I love it that I am given one of each. I love choices.
Any homechefs can tell you that if you baked anything in paper or foil, it is definitely going to be succulent. Seasoned with Chinese wines and herbs, this is a hot favourite without any doubt.
Josper Grilled Jumbo King Prawn with XO Mee Pok is part of the Longevity Menu set. It may seems that the King Prawn is the star for this dish. But behind everything super star, there’s always a supporting element. In this case, it is the XO MEE POK! At this point of the tasting session, I am already full but I can’t stop reaching out to the mee pok with my chopsticks. Don’t be mistaken, the King Prawn is excellent as well. I like how it is a little charred and gave the prawn a smoky taste.
Our sweet ending for the session is this Double Boiled Ginger Tea with Black Sesame Rice Dumplings. Nothing is more comforting than having some warm ginger tea after a very full meal. Reservation is open from now till 11 February. Feasting starts now!
